Samskrita-Kendram - Maryland (Clarksburg & Rockville)

You are registering for the weekly Samskritam classes conducted by Samskrita Bharati at Clarksburg and Rockville locations. Our Samskrita Kendram provides Samskritam classes for the whole family. Different levels of classes are conducted for adults and children. In addition, MCPS High School students also receive 0.5 elective credit per year for studying at our Samskrita-Kendram. These classes will be conducted at the same time as Beginner Level Adult classes.

A separate class is also available for teaching the devanAgari script at both places. This class will teach recognition, pronunciation, and writing of Sanskrit/Hindi alphabet. We also provide Bhagavad Gita classes for both Childrens and Adults. Both the devanAgari lipi and Bhagavad Gita classes are complementary for those who register for weekly Samskritam classes.

Weekly classes are conducted in Montgomery County and Howard County at following locations.

  • Clarksburg (Saturdays)  - Adults - Beginner level (L1): 3 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Clarksburg (Saturdays)  - Adults - Intermediate level (L2): 3 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Clarksburg (Saturdays)  - Adults - Advanced level (L3): 4:30 PM - 6 PM
  • Ellicott City (Thursdays)  - Adults - Beginner level (L1): 7 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Rockville (Sundays)  - Adults - Beginner level (L1): 3:30 PM - 5 PM
  • Rockville (Sundays)  - Adults - Intermediate level (L2): 3:30 PM - 5 PM
  • Rockville (Sundays)  - Adults - Advanced level (L3): 2 PM - 3:30 PM
  • Rockville (TBD)  - Adults - Advanced Level (L4-L6): Timings - TBD

Who can register?

Generally our Samskrita Kendram classes are open to all Samskritam aspirants. Children from grades KG to grades 7 are eligible to enroll for the children’s classes. Parents and other adults are also encouraged to join the Kendram. Adults who registered are expected to know at least one Indian language, since the teaching methodology leverages Sanskrit vocabulary from other Indian languages. Children 8th grade and above will be registered in adult classes. Students in high school and studying in Montgomery County are eligible for elective credit.
