- Purpose
- Samskrita Bharati Bālashikshanam (children’s education) uses an intentional, age appropriate, child friendly and fun-loving framework to immerse children in Samskritam. At the heart of Samskrita Bharati children’s education is active engagement - inspiring children in Samskritam regarding the expansive rich ‘Samskriti’ (cultural heritage), through developmentally appropriate activities, skillfully planned and executed by experienced Samskrita Bharati (SB) teachers. Understanding that our children are future guardians of this rich heritage, helping them get a deep appreciation of why learning Samskritam protects our Samskriti is core to all activities in SB children’s classrooms. Teachers who have this understanding and the skilfull ability to motivate and engage children, continuously strive to build this lifelong love for learning Samskritam in our children.
Children participating in SB children’s classes are immersed in high quality spoken Samskritam by teachers. Proficiency in speaking a language involves:- immersion in a high quality language rich environment
- learning the language needed for everyday interactions and building towards discussing any topic with fluency
- experienced teachers using developmentally appropriate fun activities to teach children through a positive and nurturing learning environment.

- Classes begin Sunday, September 17th, 2017
Sundays from 10 AM to 12 PM.
The actual class duration may vary based on the specific needs of certain students and certain grades. Please be there on time and plan on being there for the full duration of the class. - Location

- Fees
- $250 for the entire year. This includes books and other study material.
$25 sibling discount is available. Parents of child registrants attend for free. - Parent presence
- We strongly encourage parents to sign up for the simultaneously held adults’ class. There are several reason why. One of the primary goals of Samskrita Bharati’s Balakendram is samskrita kutumbaH (samskritam family) where more than one person is able to converse in samskritam among other things. When you and your children learn samskritam together, you would have taken the first and an important step towards reaching that goal.
In case of other Indian languages, one or both the parents may be very proficient and that could also be the language being spoken at home. Since that is usually not the case with Samskritam, teaching children needs a different approach.
