Online bala-classes: Spring, March-April, 2025

Samskrita Bharati USA, Online Bala-classes are a series of 8-week classes for 5th to 8th grade students with the goal of an “Introduction to Spoken Samskritam and Samskritam Literature.” 

The curriculum is a spectacular blend of Spoken Samskritam and rich Samskriti covered over six modules where each module is covered over 8 weeks duration. 

Note: The six modules have been uniquely designed so they do NOT need to be taken sequentially. Students can register for any module offered at any time that is convenient to them. Each module is distinct in its content and learning experience. 

In these Online Bala-class series, students can expect: 

• Experienced Samskrita Bharati teachers creatively engage students.
• A well-planned student-friendly curriculum. 
• A variety of well-thought-out teaching and language learning strategies, with teachers creatively supporting students to speak Samskritam from the first class.

Note: No prior knowledge of Samskritam is required. 

Learning Objectives of the online Bala-class series:

1. Students will get an introduction to rich and diverse Samskritam vocabulary through fun games. 
2. Students will learn to speak simple spoken Samskritam and make sentences that they can use in their everyday lives. 
3. Students will be scaffolded to fine-tune their Samskritam pronunciation.
4. Students will be introduced to Sankshepa-Ramayanam throughout the six uniquely designed modules. Note: Sankshepa-Ramayanam is the first chapter of the original Ramayana, authored by Maharshi Valmiki. This chapter provides a summary of the Ramayana's key events and themes. 

Class Details:

Who can register? Students in 5th - 8th grade are eligible to register (Note: No prior knowledge of Samskritam needed). 

Where are classes conducted? Classes are conducted online (Teachers will email zoom link with registered students before start date)

Class Duration: 1.5 hours per week. 

Class Start Dates / Timings: 

First class  Sunday 2 PM Eastern / 1 PM Central / 11 AM Pacific – starts on March 2, 2025

Second class Monday 5 PM Eastern / 4 PM Central / 2 PM Pacific  - starts on March 3, 2025

Third class Tuesday 7 PM Eastern / 6 PM Central / 4  PM Pacific  -  starts on March 4, 2025

Fourth class Friday 7 PM Eastern / 6 PM Central / 4  PM Pacific  -  starts on March 7, 2025

Note: Classes are offered on four different days. Choose a session that is convenient to the student.
